♥ 18 Months ♥

Kameryn is 18 months old already! And from the comments y'all have been leaving me, I'm gathering that I'm not the only one who thinks she doesn't look so much like a baby anymore :( She's not acting much like a baby either. In fact, she pretty much insists on doing whatever her big sissies are doing.
Miss Kam had her 18 month check up on Thursday, and she's doing great! She's right on target for all the milestones, and she continues to grow, grow, grow like a weed. One thing: she's on to these doctor's appointments. We hadn't even set foot in the room before the tears started. She knows what's up.

Luckily her toes are pretty fascinating. They kept her occupied for a few minutes while we waited for the doctor.

After her appointment, we had a few errands to run. Jeremy's birthday is next week so we did a little shopping. And then we rewarded ourselves {for having to search the "boys stores"} by stopping in at Michaels. And look what we found . . .

Oh dear.

Did y'all know that Michael's carries American Girl craft supplies???

The girls were in heaven.

Sierra's birthday is coming up, and let's just say that she's found a few more items to add to her birthday wish list ;)

After shopping we met Grandpa for a quick bite at Sharis. Kam loves grapes. And Ranch dressing. Together. MMMmmm.

And that was our day.

I cannot believe my baby is growing so quickly. The hardest part of the day? Scheduling Kam's next check up . . . her 2 year. Ugh. Really?

Girls-Only Vacay 2010 / GMYBS

Okay, whew. That was a LOT of pictures to go through. Since I just spent nearly Kam's entire nap searching through and organizing photos, I don't have much time left to devote to a real post {or laundry, but that's another matter}. So, here is a VERY photo-heavy post {shocker!} of our super fun girls trip! :)
Literally minutes after we got to our room, Kenners lost her second tooth. She wasn't exactly thrilled about it ~ mostly because I don't think it was very loose. It pretty much got ripped out of her mouth as she was blowing up a beach ball. She brightened up eventually. About the time we told her to get her suit on, we were heading to the pool! :)

Amazing how a little water and sunshine make you feel all better ;)

The resort we stayed in was on a warm springs, and the pool water seriously felt like bath water. I don't know how excited I was about that. Especially since it was 110 degrees outside. But the girls thought it was GREAT.

After a long hot day, slushies are a must.

And a little exploration is always good.

Kam was interested in the stairs leading up to the bridge. She loves stairs.

Grandma, my mother-in-law, with her girls. Geri is so very special to us. She plans these girls trips each year {plus several other day trip adventures}, and they are SO.MUCH.FUN. We enjoy our time with her. She truly is another {spectacular} mom to me.

Each day the resort offers some sort of activity for kids. On Sunday night, it was a movie in the park. The girls brought their dolls, donned their jammies, and were ready!

The next day we discovered a little slide on the side of the pool. The girls slid down it about 432,567 times. Give or take.

Kenners was all smiles the entire time ;)

Kam enjoyed the pool for a little while, and then she got bored.

Or sleepy. So we went back to the room for a bath and a nap.

{And some silly faces in the mirror}

After freshening up, we went to the restaurant for dinner. A buffet. With lots and lots of yummy dessert. I'm sure there was food there too, but I was pretty focused on the dessert.

And a little more exploring.

A little mini golf.

A little posing

A little shopping.

And before we knew it, it was time to head home :(

Soon it will be time to plan for next year.

Talk to me

The Girls Trip/Mini Vacay was a huge success. Sun, check. HUGE pool, check. Mini Golf, check. The girls had a blast. I'm sorting through lots o' pictures. 232 to be exact. I'll get to posting some eventually ;)

I feel like I have so much to say. Like if y'all were my girlfriends IRL, and we met up, I'd be yappin' at about a million miles an hour just to try to catch y'all up. I guess some of that will have to wait too.

Anyway.

I'm looking for a little insight, so maybe some of you can help me out here. Let me preface by saying that I do realize that everyone is different {Praise the Lord!}, and we all have our preferences. I'm not looking for a debate, just insight. Okay.

We got an invitation to a wedding. When I say "we", I actually mean my mom and I. A friend from my pageant days is getting married, and we couldn't be more happy for her. The wedding will be held in Medford, a good 5 hour drive away. And on the invitation:

This is an adult affair.

It's not like I've never seen these words on a wedding invitation before. Many many of the invitations we've received over the years exclude children. So I guess it didn't even come as a surprise, but here is where I need the insight. Why do you suppose that people choose not to include children? Perhaps they don't have nieces or nephews or young cousins? Or they do, but it's a bother to involve them? I get the reception thing. It costs more money if you're having to feed a lot of young guests. Okay fine. But it seems strange to me that children aren't welcome at such a joyous event as a wedding. Whew! Glad I got that off my chest. I guess this is just a bit of a touchy subject for me because when Kenners was a baby I was asked to be in my good friend's wedding {another friend from pageant days. Go figure.}. But the wedding was half way across the country, and my girls weren't invited. I would have had to leave them for 4 days {rehearsal dinner and other such events plus travel time}, and I just couldn't do that. Besides the fact that Makenna was still nursing at the time, I wasn't about to leave them for that long. Anyway. I chose not to attend {GASP! I know, I know}, and we haven't spoken since. It makes me sad to think of it even now.

Wow, that was definitely a ramble. Thanks so much for listening to the rants of a crazy lady ;) And I suppose I should conclude by saying that in the end, it doesn't matter what I think. It is her day, her choice. I understand that. I'm just curious :)

And that's all for now. We're having a fish fry {or fish buffet as Sierra is calling it} this evening, and I need to get to gettin' on the fresh baked bread. Mmmmmm.

Best Buds & Cousins to boot!

Saturday afternoon we celebrated a very special birthday. My niece turned 13! She is now a teenager. Where the heck does the time go? Where?!

So . . . first things first. There was yummy food. I love food. Especially yummy food. Who's with me? My brother-in-law grilled up these delicious kabobs. Mmmmmm.

But, do you know what's even better than food? Friendship. These three girls love each other so much, and have the best time when they get together. So much fun that they actually had to be told to settle a bit. They were getting a liiiiiitle out of hand ;)

Friends and cousins, I love it.

Can you see the mischief? They were full of it!

And the birthday girl.

Hmmm, what should I wish for?

Hope y'all had an equally fantastic weekend. We headed out yesterday for a mini vacay/girls trip with my mother-in-law. Right about now we are soaking up the sun and splashin' in the pool. Be back soon ;) With lots of pictures, no doubt!

Kersplash!

We've had such a nice day. Nothing spectacular, just nice. Our good friends came to play today, and the girls had such fun riding bikes, swinging, climbing, and splashing. And I had an equally wonderful time chatting with my sweet friend ;) It's been much too long, and it felt great to catch up.
In other news, the girls have been spending the days splashing. Lots and lots of splashing.

And slurping bubble juice. What? It's good.

Of course, sometimes the splashing gets out of hand.

And it turns into a bit of a water fight.

And even Daddy has to join in.

And then there's payback ;)

Sweet Peas

My girls love fresh veggies from the garden. {Who doesn't?!} Unfortunately, I don't have much of a green thumb. Thank goodness my mom does. She plants the peas especially for us :)

We raided her garden last night. Mmmmmm, delicious. Kam couldn't shovel them in fast enough ;)

~~~~~~~
What about y'all? Any green thumbs out there?
Wordful Wednesday ~ Bedtime Routine
First ~ A gazillion stories.
Then, some funny faces and goofing around to get the sillies out.
A kiss for sweet dreams . . .
Settling in.
Winding down.
A temper tantrum or two if we've waited a liiiiiiitle too long.
And one more attempt at stalling. Another drink of water, a second {or third, or millionth} kiss.
And then . . .
Off to dream land.
That's how we do it at the Fraijo house. How about y'all?
