What Happens When . . .

. . . On November 1st, 2009 you toss your jack o' lanterns out into the field to be rid of them?

You may just find this in the excavation dirt pile 9 months later:

And you might catch a glimpse of one of these little cuties:

And a few days later you might notice it growing:

And then you might get excited. And start watering it. And checking on it multiple times each day.

Awww, isn't it cute?

Sierra's Day Out

Yesterday we made a couple of mini manicure appointments.
One for Sierra, and one for her friend from dance class.
It was pretty much the cutest.thing.ever.

We picked up Orange Creamsicle Slushies at the coffee shop, and off we went to the salon.

Sierra chose sparkly pink.

And Kalissa went with alternating purple and green.

I mean, I'm sorry, but are they the cutest things?

We will definitely have to do this more often. And next time Makenna will have to join us. Such a fun little outing when you need a little girly pampering.

{Almost Wordless Wednesday} ~ Wronged

Don't mess with Kam.

If she feels she's been wronged in any way, expect this:

The stink eye, and the finger-point.

Just warnin' ya.

This & That

As usual, lots of jumbled thoughts, and very limited time to sort through them. So here we go. A little of this, a little of that. Bullet-point style.

♥ First off, y'all are so sweet to be concerned for Sierra. Yes, that was a bandage you saw in the "birthday donut" pic. And no, we weren't playing doctor that morning ;) Last week, while we were berry picking, Sis had a little accident. The girls were actually pretty focused on berry picking at first, but after awhile they got bored of it, so they ran off to play with the other kids. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but amid all of the excitement and fun of running amongst the blueberries, a couple of the kids started tossing rocks {I think it started with blueberries} and wouldn't ya know that one grazed Sierra. After we got her cleaned up {who knew head wounds bled so much!}, and settled down we could tell right away that it wasn't serious. But we did have a long talk reassuring her that it isn't "tattling" to come tell an adult when things start getting a little out of hand. She's healing up quite well ;)

♥ I've been having a ball with my new camera, thanks for asking! :) I sold my Canon Rebel to my mother-in-law, and purchased the 7d without a lens. Thankfully I have my 50mm 1.8, but I'm finding it to be quite limiting. Any suggestions on a good {not horribly expensive} versatile lens for everyday shooting would be greatly appreciated. {Thanks for your input, Suz, I'll be checking out that lens soon!} Yesterday a dear friend of mine came over for a visit, and I was able to snap some pics of her gorgeous girls. I actually have photographed them before, right after little Ava was born. And it got me thinking, that juuuuuust in case I get more involved in photography, I ought to start a photography-only blog. So . . . now I just have to figure out when to squeeze that in ;)

♥ Anyone else looking forward to Fall? Don't get me wrong, I love summer. The sunshine, the picnics, the long days. But I LOVE LOVE Fall. Just the thought of pumpkin patches and apple cider makes me want to do a little happy dance.

♥ House Update: There isn't one. Siding is taking a very long time. The End.

Party Girl

I think it's safe to say that Sierra had a fabulous birthday weekend.
Jeremy was deployed to fight wildland fires on Thursday night, and we were all bummed that he wasn't able to spend Sierra's birthday day {Friday} at home. But he made it so extra special for her by sending Gramps over to pick up some birthday donuts.
Grandpa delivered them bright and early Friday morning.

Friday night we got together with both sets of grandparents for dinner out at our favorite Mexican restaurant.
Complete with singing and fried ice cream.

After dinner and a few presents we prepared food for Saturday's big party.

Parfaits with our own hand-picked blueberries ;)

Guess who made it home just in time for the party?

Jeremy!

He was so tired, but we could not have been more excited to have him here with us.

The Birthday Girl made some wishes . . .

And got a TON of lovely gifts . . .

Thank you so much for all of the sweet birthday wishes for my precious girl!!

Berry Pickin'

We went berry pickin' today. Blueberries . . . yum! Kenners ate all of the ones she picked, and Kam ate many of the ones I picked ;) And Sierra, she doesn't mess around! She picked almost as many as I did.

The afternoon was spent sorting through them ~ I guess the green ones looked good to the girls? And we now have gallons of delicious berries just waiting to be poured on cereal or eaten with vanilla ice cream, baked in muffins or made into a pie.

I love this time of year.

We've been keeping so busy with outings such as these, as well as preparing for Sierra's 8th birthday this weekend, that I haven't had much time to play around with my new camera. So sad, I know.

But, yesterday we walked over to Nana and Grandpa's, and snapped a few pictures there.

Here's one of my favorites:

My oldest daughter turns 8 tomorrow. So hard to believe that 8 years ago, at this very moment, I hadn't even met this sweet child. And now I am blessed to spend every day with her.

Here She Is . . .

Alright, I have to take a quick sec to introduce my new love.

Here she is, my new camera!!!

Isn't she beee-utiful?

~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, now back to laundry and dishes. Gotta get the chores out of the way first, and then maybe I can learn a thing or two about this camera before Kam wakes up from her nap! :)
Smarties
Wow. I'm impressed. You smarties. Do y'all know me, or what?
While shoes and clothes are always fun, {and I could never turn down chocolate}. And yes, Colleen, a new baby would be more exciting for us than anything we could ever dream of buying at the store. Those things were not on the shopping list yesterday ;)
Nope.
But I did have the go ahead to get my new camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
I have been waiting {and saving} a long time for this, and I could not have been more excited. And Sierra, my photography partner {wink}, was just as excited.
I'm a little bit in love right now.
~~~~~~~~~~

{Thanks so much for all the guesses!}

Take A Guess

We're going birthday party shopping today {Sierra turns 8 on Friday!}, and while we're out I get to pick up a little something for myself.

I may be a tad excited about it

Any guesses as to what it is? ;)

In The Middle

Kenners is my "middle". If you have three children, you know what I mean. One of my main concerns when I was pregnant with Kam? That Makenna would become the middle child. Most of the time I feel like we are very conscientious. But, let's face it, Sierra is the oldest ~ she naturally gets to do more ~ and she sort of has a way about her that demands attention. I'm thinking this is an "oldest" thing. And Kam. Oh Kam. She is a handful. Have I mentioned that already? And she's the baby. She's loud, she's energetic, she can be a bit . . . pilly, and if Sierra demands attention, then Kam doubly demands it!

So, sometimes I worry that Kenners gets a little lost. It hurts even typing that because I want her to always feel how special she is to me. To always feel that she has my undivided attention. Ugh. Mommy Guilt. Anyway.

So, Sunday morning she seemed a little emotional. I could tell that she just needed some love and attention, so we decided that some one-on-one Mama time was in order. After church Sierra and Kam went to visit Nana and Grandpa, and Kenners and I spent some time crafting.

And drinking our own special drink we made. We called it a snowflake. Which is just what we needed in our 95 degree heat today.

Ahhhh. That's better :)

~~~~~~~~~~~
So, lay it on me. How do you make the time for one-on-one?
My Feet Say "Thank You"
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to Kelli from Random Thoughts of a Super Mom. I *just* received my package of foot goodies that I won through Free 4 All Fridays, and I'm lovin' it all! Kam is sporting the fancy polish . . .
And my feet love these adorable flip flops! Just please promise that you will NOT enlarge the photo. I *do* realize that my feet are in major need of a pedicure, and I'm a little embarassed. But I plan on fixing that tonight!
Thanks so much Kelli! What a wonderful surprise today!
Warning: More House Pictures
Thought I should put a disclaimer out there for y'all who don't want to see the millionth installment of our building pictures. Hence the warning.
You're very welcome. ;)
So, here it is! We've started siding. It is officially starting to look like a real house on the outside!
And there you have it. A little mini update. I'm thinking this siding business is a much bigger job than anyone anticipated. You can't tell so much from the pictures, but our house is very very tall. And that Tyvek paper is a pain in the you-know-what. I'm sorry, but I don't want Jeremy up there, three stories high, swinging from unstable ladder to unstable ladder. No thank you.
Anyway.
We are headed out for a play date with friends. Hopefully it will involve a pool as it is supposed to be near 100 degrees today.
I'll be back soon ;)
