Odds & Ends

Did someone hit the fast forward button? Life sure does seem to be moving even faster than before. {And I didn't know that was possible!}

We had a terrific first week back to school. I was a little apprehensive about the start of this school year. Homeschooling two instead of one paired with Kam's super loud and needy personality left me feeling nervous. But it was great! Kameryn enjoyed sitting at the table with the "big girls", and she had her own coloring books and activities to do. That's not to say that she didn't try to "help" her big sissies every once in awhile, but all in all we had smooth days.

We had dental appointments on Thursday. I hate the dentist. I mean, I love our dentist, but I really detest going to the dentist. This visit went particularly smoothly, yay! No cavities, and we got a referral for Kenners to see an oral surgeon. Did I mention that I am just now finding that Kenners is tongue tied? Sierra never had any sort of speech impediment. Even as a toddler. Geri {MIL} and I would chuckle because from the time that Sierra could talk, all of her words came out pretty perfect. These big words from a little bitty girl. Kenners, on the other hand, used to have a lisp {that went away on its own}, and has always had a little trouble with her Rs coming out like Ws. I figured it was normal. But once she turned 5, I thought maybe we should work on correcting it. Come to find out, she is physically unable to make certain sounds because her tongue simply won't move in the way it is supposed to. When I tried to make an appointment with our pediatrician, he wouldn't see her. He wanted her to go directly to a speech therapist. While I'm not against her having speech therapy, I truly believe that if we could correct the problem {the tongue tie}, we could solve the problem on our own. Anyway, I was so grateful to our wonderful dentist for not batting an eye, but giving us a referral right away. Miss Kenners has a consultation with the OS next week!

Yesterday we spent most of the afternoon at the hospital. My brother is having severe back/neck problems {which have really been going on for years, and are finally being addressed}, and he is finally scheduled to have surgery on Monday. I am praying that this will rid him of all of the pain he has dealt with for so long, and be the start of healing in more ways than one.

Okay, hold on to your seat . . .

Siding is FINISHED! WOOHOO! Seriously, I don't think any of us had the slightest idea just how big a job siding would be. We have a little caulking to do, and then . . . it's on to electrical! Need a photo? Here ya go:

Next week we have multiple appointments scheduled, and we will be picking out a front door AND paint colors.

What are y'all up to?

Your house looks great!

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your homeschooling... I would love to see a day in the life (just an idea!)

Babywearing... I'm pretty sure I've tried most everything out there! I don't wrap anymore, but I did a lot in the infant stage. I also had a couple of slings for quick trip, church, etc. Right now I love my Oh Snap and Kinderpack. I have also tried Beco, Angelpack, Ergo, and a couple of different Mai Tais. I don't know what I would do without my carriers...I use them everyday. I was going to email you, but I don't use Outlook and couldn't figure out how to email using your link. Just when I thought I was becoming more computer savvy...not so much!

Sorry about the tongue tie issue, I had no idea that could happen.
Hope your Brother feels better soon...living with pain is not a way to live.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Poor little Kenners! I hope they get if fixed soon for her. She is just so sweet.

Your house looks amazing!! I wanna bring my family and come visit you. ANd I'm totally serious. lol. WE don't have to stay with you, but I seriously want to come visit. I think our girls would have a BLAST together.

Praying for your brother!

And I'm going to sit down and read your homeschool post later today. I've been torn about what to do with Maddie. She's having such a tough time this year. BUT there were no tears at all on Friday, which is the first time in 2 weeks!

Oh my gosh, the siding looks great! I love how it turns different directions.

Good to hear that the 1st week of school went so well. I'm laughing about Kameryn's personality. I am the youngest of 3 girls and I understand her plight. :D

I hope all goes well w/the OS and your brother's surgery. Hopefully the recovery will be easy and he'll feel better in no time.

Yeah for a smooth week and a good transition back into homeschool. Jamison was tongue tied too and had to have her tongue clipped when she was just a week old, sniff. Now she talks like crazy and even rolls her R's for Spanish words! I hope all goes well with your brother and he is relieved of his pain. Yeah for siding...that house will be done before you know it.

So glad you got the referral! Layla has trouble with her Rs right now too and the Dr has said possible speech therapy if it doesnt go away in about a year or so. My cousins daughter had the same problem with Rs and it didnt go away until she was 7! It wasnt a physical thing like your girly though...just difficulty saying it properly.

I am glad that school is going well.
I am so with you on hating to go to the dentist. I use to work for a dentist as a teenager but now I can't stand to go. I will go to all other appointments but that one is the worst.
Love the house color. Looks like you all are doing a fabulous job!
I hope you have had a great day!

The house looks amazing!

We started school last week here too...and Riley is jumping in full force. It's exciting to see him be so active in the school.

Ian was born with a tongue tie too!! We had to go to an ENT to have it cut when he was 3 days old. He never latched on correctly in the beginning and that really affected my milk-supply. But no worries- there are no nerve endings in the skin that connects the tongue to the bottom of your month, so it shouldn't hurt at all - just more scary for them to have it done. And scary for momma to see it being done! Best wishes!!!

The house looks FANTASTIC!!!! It's come so far since the last pic. I LOVE it! If you can believe this, we're STILL working on electrical stuff! It just takes so much more time when you're doing it yourself and working on it in between everything else. We're getting there though. Hopefully, we'll be ready for insulation and sheet rock next week!

Hope you're having a great week so far!!♥
