Thanksgiving & Whatnot

Y'all, we had a fantabulous Thanksgiving. 
I did miss out on the actual dinner {Miss Tay was in need of a nap}, but  I fixed myself a plate later.

And dessert.  I pretty much live for dessert.

Ahhhh, my mischief maker.  And I thought Kam was full of it.  Never, folks.  Never have I known a child to be so full of . . . . mischief.

What have you all been up to?  We are gearing up for a busy, busy month!  Countdown to Christmas starts in just 4 days!!  This is our fourth year.  My, how time flies!!  If you're new here, we plan an outing, activity, craft, etc. every day in December for the girls.  We keep it pretty simple, but the girls LOVE it!  Stay tuned for some ideas for your own littles!  And if you're looking for a little inspiration now:

Thankful

 

Never before have I had so much to be thankful for.

Actually, no. Let me start again.

 

Never before have I fully realized all that I have to be thankful for.

 

Earlier this year we went through the worst day of our entire lives, as a family, when we lost Justin.  I didn't know that any of us would ever smile again.  Or find joy in anything again.

 

But that day . . . or those months, rather, that have led to this day, have taught me about the fragility of life.  And I am reminded every single day how blessed I am.  How blessed we all are to have each other.  I think it can be easy, when you're thinking about what you don't have, to not fully realize what you do.

 

This Thanksgiving, and every other day for the rest of my life, I am especially reminded how thankful I am for my husband.  I cannot imagine one day without him.  I am so blessed by our time together.

So, funny enough, life is not getting less busy.  Who knew?

I love this time of year, but good grief, it's busy!

Sierra has already told me that she is going to skip breakfast on Thursday so that she has more room for the big Thanksgiving feast.

I love that girl.  She's such a smartie.

Thanksgiving in Pictures

We had the most wonderful Thanksgiving ever!

It started with the making of some de-licious cornbread dressing. I found the recipe on Foodnetwork.com. It's the Neely's Holiday Cornbread Stuffing Recipe, and it was scrumptious. If you are in need of a recipe for Christmas dinner, try this. You won't be disappointed.

We mixed the yummy ingredients together {which included bacon, mmmmm}. And I used cashews instead of the pecans. What can I say? I love cashews. Anyway. This was my first year cooking a turkey, and I think it turned out well. I love turkey ;)

First stop: My Mom and Dad's.

Kam went right to Aunt Nat . . .

And cuddled right up to her. Is that the sweetest thing ever?

Once it was time for food, I had a happy little camper on my hands. Poor thing, we'd been telling her about turkey all day long, and I think she was wondering when on earth she was going to actually get to eat some! She was the last one at the table, lol!

Sis snuggled with Daddy.

Kenners smiled for the camera.

And we celebrated Aunt Nat's birthday with some yummy chocolate cake.

Oh, and Kam announced her big news ;) Thank you all for the sweet, sweet comments, by the way. We are super excited!

Then we hurried up to Jeremy's parents for more turkey, more dressing, more potatoes, more, more, more. I was too stuffed to take any more pictures ;)

Friend Makin' Monday ~ Thanksgiving

Welcome Back to another Friend Makin' Monday!!!

This week, Amber asks us about Thanksgiving.

1. Turkey or Ham? Turkey! I am not a big fan of Ham.

2. Favorite side dish. Probably dressing, maybe mashed potatoes. Who can pick just one?

3. Favorite dessert. Mmmmm, Apple Pie.

4. Black Friday: Are you going or not? Not. I still haven't left Kameryn, and I don't think either of us would survive being away from each other for any length of time. And forget trying to take her with me, I don't think much would get done. Pre-children, I used to go. And it was fun. But I never took it too seriously.

5. If so, what's on the top of your list? If I were going, the stores I'd most likely hit would be Target, Wal-mart, and Fred Meyer. Honestly, I have most of my shopping done. Jeremy wants some hunting equipment {which has to be ordered}, the girls are mostly asking for American Girl {also has to be ordered}, and I want a new camera {but that's never going to happen ~ I have expensive taste ;)}. We may be looking for a new laptop, however . . .

6. Going out of town or staying close to home? We are going to my mom and dad's this year, but we'll be close to home. They live right across the driveway ;)

7. Hosting or helping? Helping this year, hosting next year. Guess I'd better take some notes!

8. Name one family tradition at Thanksgiving. We usually spend Thanksgiving with Jeremy's family, and for the last several years we've left that evening to spend the weekend at my Nana-in-laws gift shop. We get there Thursday night and spend the evening decorating for Christmas. The girls love it! We'll miss that tradition this year as we are spending Thanksgiving with my family for the first time in 5 years.

9. What do you do after dinner? Visit and eat dessert! This year my family is starting a new tradition. We've got a big Bingo game planned following dinner. We went shopping for prizes a couple of weeks ago, and are ready!

10. What are you most thankful for this year? Wow. I have so much to be thankful for. And it's a shame that it sometimes takes a holiday to remind us of just how many blessings we have. I am so thankful that God is present in my life. He has blessed me with the most wonderful family EVER. A hard-working husband who loves us, and provides us with all we could ever need {or want}. And three precious, precious, little girls. I cannot imagine my life without them. We are also blessed to live right across the driveway from my parents, and a couple miles down the road from Jeremy's parents. So much family close by!
