Winter Walk

 We've been cooped up waaaaay too long. 
We've had frost, freezing rain, freezing fog, and just general . . . freezing.
Add to that the ear infections and the sniffles . . .
We were so ready to get out of the house.
 

So we bundled up and headed outdoors for a Winter Walk.
 

I don't think I realized how beautiful Winter could be.
 

Generally I'm a warm-weather girl.
I don't like to be cold, I don't like the rain.
I get sad when I go days on end without seeing the sun.
 

 

But I have to say, as much as I miss the warm temps, I'm definitely finding beauty in my least favorite season, Winter.
 

We even found this little guy, nestled underneath the Maple Tree.
 

 

I'm definitely ready for Spring.  But I have a new-found appreciation for Winter, as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Outside

Anyone else go a liiiiiiitle stir crazy this time of year?  We get a LOT of rain, which means a lot of time indoors.  So, when we get a dry spell, we try to head outside pronto.

That's just what we did the other day.
It wasn't beautiful.  We didn't see any sun.  It certainly wasn't warm. 
But the fresh air was absolutely delightful.



Taylor definitely thought so.



Kam got to wear her beloved boots . . .



and she found many a treasure. 
Many.

I love those kinda days.

Nature Walk

If you've been around here long, you know that my girls and I love a good nature walk. The weather has put a bit of a damper on our outdoor time, but the other day we found a few drizzle-free hours, and headed outside!

Does she look like she's in awe that we've finally made it outside?

Sierra doesn't go anywhere without her camera. Like mother, like daughter ;)

Kenners quickly headed off to explore the creek.

And then we found this little guy. Can you see him in there?

The girls wanted a closer look.

And then someone got a little cranky that we weren't moving anywhere. This girl likes to be on.the.go!

Whew, that's better!

Next stop ~ the pond.

And even a little evidence that Spring may just be trying to make an appearance after all!

Then we came to Grandpa's pond {our property adjoins my parent's property}

And we noticed these little sacks floating around . . .

It didn't take long for Mama Frog to let us know that we'd better stay AWAY from her babies.

She seriously swam back and forth between Sierra and Makenna, coming up to the edge of the water, and giving them the "stare down". It was hilarious! After a minute or two we decided to leave her alone. Poor thing was just trying to protect her little ones.

I can understand that.

Nature Walk

On Thursday we actually had a few hours with no rain {insert a hallelujah}, so we headed outside. Some of us with cameras ;) The girls love going on "nature walks". The goal was to find a butterfly, a ladybug, and a caterpillar on our walk. Funny enough, I don't think we came across any of them. That's a first!

But we did find Mr. Bug.

And some daisies. Sierra loves daisies.

And these dainty little buttercups

Gramps came along.

Kam learned the proper way to throw rocks in the creek.

Thank you, Grampa.

She found that the bigger they are, the bigger they splash!

It's been another quiet day inside due to a very sleepy, very feverish little sugarplum. Oh how I hate it when the kiddos are sick.
