Focus on the Family, May 2010

Um, excuse me, where did April go?

It seems I was just typing out my April Focus on the Family post, and here we are in May! Crazy. If you are not familiar with Focus on the Family, head on over to Connie's to find out more. She created this plan to help us Mamas get organized, and be deliberate in our actions. Make a plan for your own family, and head over to Connie's to link up!

Time is zoomin' by, and while I don't want to wish May away, I am so looking forward to June. I think we are all ready for a break from dance, a break from soccer, a break from school. Simply, a break. We enjoy our activities, but have too many things going on at once right now, and it feels like we're constantly on the go. I don't like scrambling for dinner 4 nights in a row during the week.

♥ So, our plans for May

We leave today for a mini vacation to the beach. I'm looking forward to it. Last Fall we had thought about planning a Spring trip to American Girl with just the girls ~ Nana, Grandma, the girls, and me. However, the closest one to us is in L.A., and once we started adding up the cost of a hotel and airfare, a rental car, etc., we discovered that we could just about take a week long family vacation in Hawaii, and come out about the same. That was around the time that we got serious about planning to build, and we decided we just couldn't make the L.A. trip{why, oh why isn't there an American Girl in Seattle???}. So we promised Sierra and Makenna that we would plan a little something in May. And here we are. I think this little trip will be just what we need. A nice time to relax, much less expensive, and I think the girls will have a lot of fun. We're even taking a friend along ;)

Of course, Mother's Day is right around the corner. Last year we went to Sunriver with my family. This year we will enjoy Mother's Day at home. I'm not sure of our plans. Perhaps a nice brunch. All I'm really asking for is a warm, sunny day. This rain and cold are getting old!

Makenna will continue to have soccer practices and games throughout May. I think she has improved tremendously in the last few weeks, but I do believe she is finding out that she isn't enjoying it quite as much as she thought she would. It's a lot of running around for a girl who likes to be carried ;) Luckily we only have a few weeks left.

Both Sierra and Makenna will be performing in the community Spring Fling on May 15th. It's always such fun to watch them perform. And on the 16th my cousin flies in from Delaware for her baby shower. This is her first {and probably last} baby, and we are so excited to celebrate with her!

The rest of May will be filled with odds and ends regarding the house, and finishing up our homeschool year. Jeremy and I are hoping to get away one evening for dinner this month. We are enjoying our evenings together {he taught me how to play Hearts last night} after the little ones have gone to bed, but it has been a long time since we've escaped the house together :)

And that's our month! How about y'all? What are your plans?

Focus on the Family ~ April 2010

It's time again for Focus on the Family ~ a monthly plan, created by Connie @ the Young and the Relentless, to help us Mamas get organized, and be deliberate in our actions. Make a plan for your own family, and head over to Connie's to link up!

April is going to be a busy month! {Don't I say this every month?} Makenna just started Soccer. She has practice on Mondays, Sierra has dance on Tuesdays, I teach Tap on Wednesdays, and Makenna's games are on Saturdays. Easter is tomorrow. Uh, how did that happen? We have a trip South planned to visit my sister at the end of the month. And hopefully, within the next week or two, we'll get approval from the county to start building our house. Yeah, we're going to be busy.

Some goals for April:

Last week our Bible Study group finished Breaking Free by Beth Moore. It was a toughie, and I think we all felt a strong sense of accomplishment to have finished. But without a lesson each day to keep me on track, I'm afraid I'm going to feel lost. We will start another study in May, but until then my goal is to try a study on my own.

I'd like to plan more activties with the girls. In between practices, lessons, and games, I'm hoping that the weather finally cooperates so that we may get outdoors. Locally, there is a tulip festival that is open through the end of April. Last year the weather was gorgeous. This year . . . there has been a LOT of rain. I'm hoping we'll have a few dry days so that we can head out there.

And, of course, I'd love more time with my husband. I'm enjoying our evenings together, going over plans for our new home. I look forward to more of that in the future.

It's pretty simple, really. More time together making memories. Less "stuff".

Simplicity.

That's what I long for.
