Wordful Wednesday ~ House Update

Three things about this photo that make me happy:

1. Sunshine! Do you see it?? This was taken on the 17th. I'm pretty sure that was the last day we've seen even a ray of sun. Have I mentioned my irritation with the weather? {Oh, I have, haven't I? Well, I'm going to mention it again}. This is the coldest May we've had in over ten years, and the wettest in five. And, oh yeah, one day last week was the coldest "high" they've ever recorded. That's nice.

2. Because of the cooperative weather, we were able to pour our stem walls. Yay! The foundation is done!! Now we are waiting {not so patiently, I'm afraid} for a little break from the rain so that we can weatherproof the basement and pour the basement floor. Then, we can move on to framing!

3. That's my hubby up there on that ladder. Isn't he handsome?? ;) That's the guy who goes to work for 24 hours straight at the fire station, and then comes home {often with very little sleep} to see his girls, and then put in another two full days of work on the house before going back to the fire station. Yeah, I'm blessed.

Hi Liz!

So you are building a house? How very exciting!!! We built our current home 8 years ago and while there are definitely things I would change today, we love it so much we don't plan to move again until Fire Hubby retires.

Our husbands sure do work hard, don't they?!

Sorry about the gloomy weather...rain isn't bad...when it's warm out. But cold rain...in May...yuck!

How exciting! That is one big wall too! Is he on the inside of the basement!?! We don't have basements down here...I think we are too close to the gulf or something:)

Yeah for sun, yeah for progress on the house and yeah for a great hubby!

We must be neighbors because your weather sounds just like the weather here. It is raining again today and the temps are 20 degrees cooler than normal. I am sick and tired of the cold, ugly May that we are having.

It looks like your house is coming along well. Good luck with that!

I feel you with the weather. We had I think 11 days straight of rain. But finally this week it has been hot hot hot and sunny. Rain is in the forecast again, though.

Anyway, so exciting about your house! One day we hope to build as well. :)

I am so happy to see the progress on the house. We are finally getting the sun and heat here. We have even started saying it is summer time, let's hit the pools.
I am very impressed with your hubby. I can't imagine working those hours. Sounds like you have a keeper.
Thanks for linking up this week and have a great Wednesday!

How exciting, Liz!! Getting closer and closer to having your dream home...how fun! I hear you about the rain. This stinks! The kids (and I) are getting restless indoors and I'm tired of waking up to gloomy days. Not today though. Was it sunny for you when you woke up?? Let's hope for at least a couple of dry days for the weekend, if not warmer!

I missed this post! I was wondering about the backside of the house after seeing the post yesterday. So, is it split level? Two story? Whatever it is, it is going to be BEAUTIFUL!!! GORGEOUS VIEW! Your hubby sure is handsome and you sure are blessed! Can't wait to see what's next!

It's a lot of work, but it'll be worth it in the end, right?! I get a little bit of a headache thinking of all the work that we have left. Since we're building on, we'll have to rearrange our rooms and I can only picture big messes before everything finally comes together and is completed. Deep breaths.

Hope you guys are having a great week!!♥
