Countdown to Christmas 2012 ~ Week 1

Holy Moly, y'all.  How did we get here so quickly?
I tell ya, it seems like we were just counting down to Christmas 2011.
Slow down!!!

So.
Our first week of Countdown to Christmas 2012
A recap:

Saturday, December 1st:
The girls had a dance performance at a nearby Tree Lighting.
This was Kam's very first performance ever . . .

And she was FABULOUS!
We also made our yearly Hershey's Advent Calendars :)

Sunday, December 2nd:
We colored and cut out a Nativity Scene and read Luke 2.

Monday, December 3rd:
We had some very special friends over for cookie baking and crafts.

We didn't actually get to the crafting, though, because we were having too much fun visiting!

Tuesday, December 4th:
We got a TREE!  We always look forward to putting a tree up!!

Christmas01W

Wednesday, December 5th:
We made candy necklaces.  I found a craft kit at Joann's, and it was a hit!

Thursday, December 6th:
We attended our local Tree Lighting.  I didn't get one picture :(  But we had cookies and cocoa, and it was super fun!

Today we are going to read some of our favorite Christmas stories and I'm attempting to organize coordinating crafts.  Wish us luck! ;)

Oh, and I have to share this photo I got of Kam with a new backdrop.
I know I'm a biased Mama, but she is so precious to me.
My little Sleeping Beauty ;)

Hope you all are enjoying these last couple of weeks until Christmas.  I love our countdown because it reminds us to be intentional in finding the special moments which surround this special season.

If you've been documenting special moments from your week, please do link up below!

God Bless!!

Countdown to Christmas 2012

I can't believe we are just days away from December!
I think . . . YES, I'm quite positive . . . December is our favorite, favoritest month of the year.

Tree3W

Several years ago I made an Advent Calendar.  Each day in December, the girls find a slip of paper in a pocket ~ a surprise outing, activity, or craft for the day.  We keep it very simple {and mostly free!}, and the girls love it.
If you are looking for something fun to do with your kiddos, look no further.
I'm going to start a list of some ideas, and please feel free to add some of your own ideas in the comments.  We're always looking for new ideas :)

Here we go:

3.  Bake a Birthday Cake for Jesus
4. Make Sparkly Snowflakes to hang from the ceiling
Countdown2W

Now, I know I haven't been the world's greatest blogger lately.  But, I am going to attempt a weekly link up for Countdown to Christmas.  Let me know if you're interseted!!

Friday Funnies

My dear dear bloggy friend, Heather, is hosting Friday Funnies each week, and I just had to join in. My girls are always saying something that makes me laugh {I just rarely remember in detail what it is!} But this week I made a point to write it down ;)

Time's a wastin'! Soon it won't be Friday!

Here we go:

While I was stripping the sheets off my bed to wash them, Kenners jumps under the pile of blankets and states: "I'm deep sea diving".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While preparing lunch: {Kenners} ~ "Wouldn't it be fun if soup had candy in it?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Last week we had a big crawfish feed. The girls watched as Jeremy cooked them all, and I noticed Kenners looking a little pensive. I asked her what she was thinkin'. Her reply? "It's just sad that crawdads have to lose their life in order to be eaten". Indeed it is, sweetie.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sierra and Makenna have had a box full of Barbies and accessories for several years, but they've never really played with them. The other day they re-discovered them, got everything out, and played, played, played. Overheard while Barbie was at the "doctor":
'Barbie, you need to eat fruits and vegetables or else you will die.'
And a little later when Sierra was trying to decide what Barbie was going to wear to a wedding:
"Mama, Barbie's clothes aren't very modest."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm sure there were many more funnies, but I'm still learning to write them down! And I'm starting to think that mine should be titled: Kenners Funnies ;)

~~~~~~~~
Did your little ones make you giggle this week? Head on over to Heather's and link up your own funnies!
