Cider Makin'

Cider01W

Every year we go to the pumpkin patch, every year we buy their cider, and every year we cry when the last drop has been drunk.

So this year, we thought we'd buy our own apples, and do the cider makin' ourselves.  Even more fun?  Invite others over to share in the fun, and the work, {and the cost!}, and the deliciousness!!
So that is what we did, folks.

 We took a lot of apples, did a lot of slicing, a lot of crushing, and made a lot of cider!

 And I'm thinking we're going to have to do this again soon, because there were an awful lot of apples left over ;)

 I'm seeing some apple pie in our near future.

And the little ones?  They're not feeling so great :(  There has been some sort of illness circulating the house for the last month, but Kam has gotten a lot worse over the last few days.  We may have to make a trip to the doctor soon.

Taylor is cutting four molars at once, sigh.  And her new trick?  I'll let you see for yourself:

Pumpkin Patch Pics {Say that 5x fast!}

We made it to the Pumpkin Patch this week, and had such fun!  We seriously look forward to it all year long.

The swings and slides are a favorite.  I think the girls could've stayed there all day.

Then we moved on to the animals.  Oh these little piggies were so cute!

Kam loved the goats :)

PumpkinPatch5

See?  She normally keeps a safe distance from all animals ;)

And we picked out a few pumpkins.

And some apple cider.  Mmmmmmm, apple cider.  Our favorite!

And one of Tay, just to document that she came along ;)

We ♥ the Pumpkin Patch!

It has been a VERY looooooong couple of days around here. I will most likely be blogging about that soon. But I don't have the time, the energy, or the focus it takes to do much more than upload a few {adorable} photos. For the time being, anyway.

As you probably guessed, we went to the pumpkin patch this week! I ♥ the pumpkin patch. It is an outing I look forward to all year. I love Fall. The gorgeous leaves, the bales of hay, sunflowers {awwww, I just love those happy flowers!}, pumpkins, and apple cider. Ooooh, I love this time of year!

We set out for the patch on Wednesday. My mom came along and we met up with our dear dear homeschooling friends, the Kishpaughs. My dad even stopped by for some of the fun!

There was a gorgeous store with beautiful decorations, delicious treats, and the best apple cider you've ever tasted. Seriously, it's that good. I could have spent hours in that store.

But alas, the slides and swings and mazes were calling.

Kam made good friends with Amanda's youngest. Aren't they the cutest?

This little guy {Billy the Kid, if you must know his name} received much attention from the kiddos.

Kam LOVED the swings. She's not so sure about the swings we have at home, but these ones? She loved them. {And can we not talk about the fact that she does not even slightly resemble a baby anymore? Mmkay.}

Kenners liked the swings too.

And the slides were a favorite. But not for Kam. Lesson learned.

Yep, I'd say everyone had a pretty good time.

How about y'all? Any of you been to the pumpkin patch yet?

A Little Shout Out for the Pumpkin Patch

I ♥ LOVE the Pumpkin Patch.
Have I mentioned that before?
Visiting the Pumpkin Patch is one of my favorite yearly traditions.
What fun we have tromping through the grounds,
gazing at the beautiful colors of leaves on the trees,
getting lost in the hay maze,
swinging, sliding, and admiring the animals,
sipping on cider {mmmmm, cider},
and, most importantly, picking our pumpkins!
This year was no disappointment.
We had a fabulous trip to Bauman Farms on Monday.
Our first stop was checking out some mighty BIG Pumpkins!

What is it about cornstalks that just scream FALL?
I think they're beautiful.

My little Apple ;)

Kam's first trip pumpkin pickin'

BOO!

Did we scare ya?

Mmmmm, look at these delicious apples.
Bauman Farms makes the.most.delicious.cider.period.
{We grabbed a few jugs on the way out}

Anyone else have a soft spot for these little guys? Oh, their little grunts and snorts are so cute!

This one was just snoozin' away the entire time.

Are these about the cutest little animals you've ever seen?
{Note to self: Get out of the way! Nothing ruins a cute picture of the littles like mama's big head peekin' over the top!}

And with that, I'll leave you with a little trivia we came across at the farm . . .

1.How many apples does it take to make 1 gallon of cider?

2.How many glasses of milk can a cow produce in one day?

3.What percentage of a pumpkin is water?

4. How many stomachs does a cow have?

5. How long does it take a pumpkin to grow?

***********************

Answers:

1. 36

2. 40

3. 90%

4. Four

5. Four Months

Ahhh, Lazy Fall Days . . .

YEAH, RIGHT!

We've been busy!

Jeremy got home from his hunting trip about 1am on Saturday. Any of you "hunters' wives" will know what follows a trip such as this. Laundry, laundry, more laundry. Let's just say that the washing machine and I have been getting to know each other REAL well these last few days.

We've cut and wrapped meat, the laundry is caught up, and I'm happy to say that things are pretty much back to normal. Whatever normal may be.

*****************************

Yesterday we took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Just the girls, my mom, and me. We had a great time! There were slides and swings, castles made from hay, mazes, a petting zoo, and best of all, PUMPKINS! I want to post pictures {I got some good ones!}, but there doesn't seem to be time right now. Hopefully tomorrow. Until then, Happy Tuesday!
