Countdown to Christmas 2016 ~ Week 3

Shortly after my last post, it started snowing.
And snowing.
And snowing.

And that causes a lot of excitement around here,
because the last time we got a snow like this was years ago!

So, what did we do for our Countdown week 3???

We bundled up and went sledding.

And we pretty much stayed in the fluffy, white stuff the whole time it stuck around.

Which was several days!

Now it's gone :(

And we're hustling our bustle to get last minute things done before Christmas Day.
Only three days away. Holy smokes!

What do you still have left to do?

What Season Is It Where You Live?

Because in Oregon . . .

we're still in the middle of Winter.

5+ inches of snow on the ground this morning.

Snow {And You Capture: Cold}

This time of year always seems so busy to me.  But then, most times of the year seem busy to me :)
We're trying to settle back into a routine after the hustle and bustle of the holidays, plus we have 1.2 million birthdays all in January and February.  That keeps us hoppin', people.

But the other day we were forced to slow down a bit when we got a tiny sprinkling of . . .

SNOW!
The girls had pretty much been praying for snow since November.  And they finally got it!
We didn't get enough to build a snow man, or even go sledding.

But there was enough for eating {blech!}

Snow2

And, of course, a few snowballs :)

So, I'm just going to put this out there for you, Mother Nature.  I love the snow in January.  I will tolerate it in February.  But don't you go dumpin' snow on us in March and April like you did last year, K?

Snow Day!

So . . . I'm kind of ready for spring. But it appears that Mother Nature has other ideas.

This morning the girls were a little more than excited to wake up to this:

SnowDay4

It didn't take long for them to haul out the snow bibs, mittens, hats, coats, and boots . . .

SnowDay5

. . . and settle in to some fun with the white stuff.

SnowDay11

My little budding photographer. Sierra always has her camera with her. I love it :)

SnowDay6

Kam was immediately intrigued by the snow.

SnowDay10

Hmmm, what can I do with this stuff?

SnowDay7

A little taste perhaps?

SnowDay9

Ick!

SnowDay8

After an hour or so of traipsing through the "forest", making snow angels, and other such fun, we were ready to go inside . . .

SnowDay3

and enjoy some hot cocoa.

{And y'all can refrain from commenting on how grown up Kam looks in this photo, k? Where did my baby go???}

SnowDay

Oh, but before I go . . . see this? This house here . . .

It's finished.

We're just waiting on a heat vent or two, a couple of inspections, and {oh yeah} the appraisal to come back.

Prayers for all of the above {actually, no need to pray about heating vents, lol!} are always greatly appreciated. I probably don't have to mention what a stressful time this is for us as we await a whole bunch of decisions that we have very little control over.

Give it to God. Give it to God.

I'm really trying.

You're A Little Late, Mother Nature

Don't you love how we have to get all.bundled.up for a little dusting?

We woke up to a dusting of snow this morning. A little late, don'tchathink? I can deal with snow in December and January. I rather like it, actually. But it's March, and I'm ready for SPRING!!! Please, Sunshine, come back!

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

*Playing in the snow with children, How-Tos* (Use pictures, below, for visual aid)

#1. Bundle up. Start with a warm layer, add snow bibs, scarves, hats, (enormous) gloves, super plush and bulky parkas, and snow boots. Once the little sugarplums are unable to move a muscle, you'll know you're set! Just as you're ready to head out the door you will hear "I have to go potty!" Peel off layer after layer, send them to the bathroom, then start again from the beginning.

#2. Once outside fling yourself into the snow and start vigorously moving your arms and legs to create the perfect snow angel. Repeat this step 42 million times all throughout your yard.

#3. Sneak a nibble of snow when no one is watching ;)

When you've had your fill of the fluffy white stuff, come in for some hot cocoa!

Enjoy these special moments with your own sugarplums. They grow so quickly!
