Um, excuse me, where did April go?
It seems I was just typing out my April Focus on the Family post, and here we are in May! Crazy. If you are not familiar with Focus on the Family, head on over to Connie's to find out more. She created this plan to help us Mamas get organized, and be deliberate in our actions. Make a plan for your own family, and head over to Connie's to link up!
Time is zoomin' by, and while I don't want to wish May away, I am so looking forward to June. I think we are all ready for a break from dance, a break from soccer, a break from school. Simply, a break. We enjoy our activities, but have too many things going on at once right now, and it feels like we're constantly on the go. I don't like scrambling for dinner 4 nights in a row during the week.
♥ So, our plans for May ♥
We leave today for a mini vacation to the beach. I'm looking forward to it. Last Fall we had thought about planning a Spring trip to American Girl with just the girls ~ Nana, Grandma, the girls, and me. However, the closest one to us is in L.A., and once we started adding up the cost of a hotel and airfare, a rental car, etc., we discovered that we could just about take a week long family vacation in Hawaii, and come out about the same. That was around the time that we got serious about planning to build, and we decided we just couldn't make the L.A. trip{why, oh why isn't there an American Girl in Seattle???}. So we promised Sierra and Makenna that we would plan a little something in May. And here we are. I think this little trip will be just what we need. A nice time to relax, much less expensive, and I think the girls will have a lot of fun. We're even taking a friend along ;)
Of course, Mother's Day is right around the corner. Last year we went to Sunriver with my family. This year we will enjoy Mother's Day at home. I'm not sure of our plans. Perhaps a nice brunch. All I'm really asking for is a warm, sunny day. This rain and cold are getting old!
Makenna will continue to have soccer practices and games throughout May. I think she has improved tremendously in the last few weeks, but I do believe she is finding out that she isn't enjoying it quite as much as she thought she would. It's a lot of running around for a girl who likes to be carried ;) Luckily we only have a few weeks left.
Both Sierra and Makenna will be performing in the community Spring Fling on May 15th. It's always such fun to watch them perform. And on the 16th my cousin flies in from Delaware for her baby shower. This is her first {and probably last} baby, and we are so excited to celebrate with her!
The rest of May will be filled with odds and ends regarding the house, and finishing up our homeschool year. Jeremy and I are hoping to get away one evening for dinner this month. We are enjoying our evenings together {he taught me how to play Hearts last night} after the little ones have gone to bed, but it has been a long time since we've escaped the house together :)
And that's our month! How about y'all? What are your plans?

Have a great time at the beach! We keep talking about taking our kids to the beach but it's just so far away....
I'm excited for your date night...we're actually getting away next week for dinner. Bobbi's coming to watch the kids.
Thanks for linking up!
Have fun at the beach, I wish we had one closer than a 4 hour road trip.
I too am looking forward to June when things should slow down a bit. Nolan has one more game, Jakob has 4 or 5. Then of course all the end of the year stuff that's going on. *sigh*
Great plans! I hope you all have a great getaway!
I can't believe it's May either. Abby will be 6 in just a few weeks!
I'm with you about April...crazy! Looks like your May will be a lot of fun...have a great mini vacation. I love that your hubby taught you a cards game, very sweet. Hope you guys get your date night.
I hear ya...April disappeared WAY too fast. Our May is busy busy busy. Unfortunately our June, July and August are no slower. We are soaking in the gorgeous weather that we inevitably get in May (before it gets scorching hot), we have a membership class at church, SIX family birthdays (Reagan's included), church picnic, financial classes, end of the school year activities (which reminds me, I need to go buy our summer curriculum so Reagan doesn't "forget" some of her skills), and I'm speaking at a women's conference (yikes!). Just typing this, I'm feeling overwhelmed!
I cannot believe that it is MAY....Where did April go...Love your blog...Sunday evening blog hopping.....
Have 2 great giveaways that I am drawing for on late tonight.....
Hope you will stop by.

The beach sounds like a wonderful trip. I love small family vacations. I think everyone has a better time as there is less planning and traveling and more enjoying each other.
This month we of course are adding Miss. Lila to the family. So we are excited about that change but we are also excited about slowing down as Donnie will wrap up school for the year and he doesn't have summer school this year so we are excited about the break.
Have a great day!
Have fun on your mini vacation! I just love going to the beach!
My son turns 2 on the 24th so I'll be party planning for most of the month. Other than that, hopefully just getting stuff done around the house and relaxing! But I think I do enough of that already! hahaha!
