It's only day 2 of December, but Christmas cheer is in high doses around these parts! The girls were so excited yesterday about the start of Countdown to Christmas. No surprises, though. They knew what our activity would be:
Making Hershey's Advent Calendars.
Even Kam helped {by eating the leftover chocolates}.
Check out yesterday's post for details for making your own.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of our week will be filled with fairly typical holiday activities.
Today, after homeschool, we will be decorating the house. The Rubbermaid tubs were brought down from the shop yesterday, and you should've seen the girls ooohing and ahhhing over all of the decorations. They are so excited to put them up.
Friday we are going Christmas shopping. I had wanted to finish up before Thanksgiving, but that didn't happen. We'll see what we can get done on Friday. My girls love to shop, so this will definitely be a treat for them. Hopefully our day will include a nice lunch out :) {And I don't mean McDonald's. Mmkay}.
Saturday we will get a tree! If you've been around here for a Christmas season you may know that this is an area of contention ;) Jeremy would love to wait as long as possible to put a tree up. He claims this is because of safety issues {the tree drying out, etc.}, but I dunno. I, on the other hand, would be happy to put a tree up the day after Thanksgiving. Once we are through eating Turkey, I'm ready to celebrate Christmas as long as possible. I don't, however, keep the tree up for long after Christmas. Typically I'm taking it all down on December 26th.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And the rest I'll leave for next week!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How about y'all? What do your holiday plans look like? Are you celebrating already? Or is it taking awhile to get into the spirit? Link up your activities, traditions, crafts, outings, recipes, whatever! We'd love to read about what you're doing!
Need an incentive?
Oh, alright. Twist my arm.
I found this adorable little plate {perfect for small candies, nuts, etc.} when I was shopping, and fell in love with it. I thought one of you might like to have it.
And also a cookie cutter. Because we ♥ LOVE ♥ making cookies, and I thought you might too :)
I have to have that plate...have to. So even if I don't win maybe you can share where you got it and I will pray that I have the same store here!
I follow...and we are putting our tree up on Saturday. I'm so excited to get all of the decorations out. We have an artificial tree because I'm allergic to real trees. I don't keep my stuff up long either, it's usually down before New Years.
We went Christmas shopping yesterday and Abby did really good! She was a huge help in picking things out for her cousins.
I can see why Jeremy would be worried about the tree drying out. I know it is a safety issues and he is a fireman. We use a fake tree, just so we don't have to deal with the issues of a real one, but I know there's nothing like a real one!!
Oh and that plate and cookie cutter are adorable!
I linked up! I love to see what everyone has planned for the Christmas season.
Linked up-2 :)
I think I have to go with Jeremy on the waiting a little while to put up the tree! I hate when the tree is so dry on Christmas morning that it looks dead! We are going this Friday to get our tree:)
I follow your lovely blog!
I linked up my advent calendar:)
linked up #2:)
Ohhhh! A giveaway!
We're getting a tree on Saturday too. Our big fake tree won't fit in our apartment so we're getting a little REAL tree! I haven't had a real tree since I was a teen.
I need to find some crafts to do with the kids....
Oooh I love that plate!!! And your schedule sounds just like ours. Brian likes to get the tree the week before Christmas but that doesn't work well with my planning since I take EVERYTHING down on the 26th. :) Getting ready to link up!! I'm LOVING this!!
We already put up our tree (fake!) and have most of the house decorated. Hoping to put up some outside lights...the girls and I have to do this, the husband is not into doing this during his few hours free.
Congrats and blessings on your pregnancy! I hope you are feeling well. I am so excited for you!
I am ready...minus a few gift cards. I have presents wrapped and have been crafting a little bit. Our tree is up, but I do not decorate for any holiday. Too lazy I guess.
That plate is so cute. We are counting down the days until my inlaws arrive.
