Dreams and Other Things

Night before last I had a dream that our baby girl made her appearance. And it got me thinking that it would be fun to find some pregnancy/labor/delivery statistics, and then post them. But I went looking, and couldn't really find what I was looking for :( Bummer. And the stats I did come up with weren't that interesting.

So instead, I'm going to ramble. I know how excited you are about that.

I'm going to be honest. I'm a little nervous. Isn't that funny? I mean, it's not like this is my first baby and I don't know what to expect. I guess Kam's birth sort of threw me for a loop. There was something sort of comforting about being induced. I was already in the hospital, I knew that sometime within the next day we'd have a baby. There wasn't as much of the "unknown". I don't really like the unknown.

Now I am constantly wondering, will I go into labor when Jeremy's at work? {He's a firefighter, and works a 24 hour shift at a station that's over an hour from our home}. If he is at work, would I wait for him to drive all the way home first, or would I meet him at the hospital? If it's the middle of the night, and he's at work, and my parents are gone {they leave to go camping on Monday for a week}, would my MIL stay with the girls while I drive myself in to the hospital?

Do you see? I WAY over-think things. I know that when the time comes, I'll know just what to do. I just have such an active imagination, and it's running a little wild right now ;)

And that's about all I got.

I have another appointment this morning. And then more waiting ;)

While I'm waiting . . .

I'm curious {I may just have to compile some stats of my own!}

How long were your labors? Did they get progressively faster? {Mine did not}.

Any funny stories you'd like to share? {Please no horrific ones, I have enough of those stored up}

Any tips or suggestions while we wait these last couple of {uncomfortable} weeks out?

well i tend to have short labors...but my 4th was the longest. at the time we lived about 20 minutes from town and i was terrified i'd have him in the car. then they told me i was group B positive for the first time,and that if the labor wasn't long enough to keep an anti biotic IV in, they'd give the baby a spinal tap! i fought that labor like carzy! when they told me my 4 hours had passed and he was good, i said "okay then let's push" and had him within a few minutes:D the power of our own will is pretty strong! i'm sure you will be totally fine, but no, my labors were NEVER normal progressing (one hard contraction, none for 10 min, then 3 in a row, etc) and i was still worried after going threough it that i wouldn't know when i was really in labor or not!

oh, i know the waiting game, far too well. with audrey i was 2.5 weeks early, and as you know, naomi came on her due date. i was at the hospital with audrey for about 7 hours (10 hours of total labor) and 45 minutes with naomi (2 hours and 22 minutes of total labor with naomi). i'm curious what my third is going to be like (yes, i'm ALREADY thinking about it, and no, i'm not pregnant:)) what's awesome about birth, is GOD knows YOUR plan. He isn't going to give more than you can handle, so what ever happens, HE is in charge. of course, you know this already. :) can't wait to meet your little baby girl!!!

The unknown is so hard to wait for!

I was in labor with Abby for 7 weeks. LOL! Ok, really I went into preterm labor at 30 weeks. I was 3 cm. I had to get the mag. sulfate and then stay on bedrest in the hospital for 5 days. I went home with a terbutaline pump (stops labor).

I think I was cleared to discontinue the pump on a Tuesday. That Saturday we went to a Scholastic warehouse book sale. I noticed that I was having trouble walking. It was super hot in the non air conditioned warehouse.

That was at 1:30 p.m. We stopped at the bank for some cash and then Quizno's, because I was hungry and knew they wouldn't let me eat when I got to the hospital. I also took a shower. LOL!

We got to the hospital at 3:30 and I was pushing by 6:30. Abby was born at 8:26 p.m.

It didn't seem too short or too long really.

Oh and my contractions were never normal. There was no timing them.

Ha! Well Emma was 6 weeks early. My water broke at a Chinese buffet. I had back labor all night (even tho the nurses said I wasn't) and almost had her while standing over the bed waiting for my epidural. The nurse came in to check me and freaked out a little. Dr was rushed in. One contraction and 2 pushes later, my miracle was born with NO epidural.

You'll be fine! It will all work out!!!

My water broke at midnight when my husband was at work. He worked 10 pm to 7 am.
So I called and left him the message that I was going to the hospital, my SIL got a call that she needed to come stay with my 2 1/2 year old and my parents came and took me to meet my hubs at the hospital. Whew!

I'm so like that. I think and think and think until I'm sick. It's true, you'll know exactly what to do when the time comes, it's just what us mamas do!

I delivered Evan three weeks early and had my bag of water broken so I know the comforting feeling knowing that your sweet baby will be arriving any time. I don't like the unknown either.

Praying all goes smoothly and you won't have to make any of those decisions you're worrying about.

Ha, I over-think everything as well! I can't wait to hear how it all turns out :)

No crazy labor stories for me! I elected c-sections with both babies because the unknown just doesn't work for me, lol! I got to pick the day and was nice and prepared - just how I like it! I was very fortunate to have easy recoveries so c-sections were definitely the way to go for me. Most people think I'm crazy, though, especially those who have had natural deliveries!

I hope that the next few days(?)/weeks go quickly for you and will be praying for your precious arrival!

I was blessed with a VERY quick labor. My water broke around 5PM. I wasn't having any contractions or anything, so I took a shower and did my hair and makeup. :o) We got to the hospital around 7PM. Contractions were DEFINITELY noticeable by then. Around 10:30 they told me to start pushing and my tiny 5 lb baby was born at 10:37PM. She was a little over 3 weeks early. The only irregularity with my labor was that neither of the two epidurals they gave me worked. Right before I started pushing, they gave me spinal block, so I never felt anything after that! :o)

I'll be praying for a safe labor and delivery for you! And hopefully that firefighting husband of yours won't be off saving the world when you go into labor. ;o) I completely understand the overactive imagination thing though. Just try to keep those imaginary scenerios happy ones and maybe you won't be so freaked out. :o) Good luck!

You must be exhausted with all the activity in your brain. :) poor thing...so many things to worry about.
I hope it all goes smoothly and QUICKLY...of course with Jeremy by your side.
I was induced the first time and ended up with a c-section after 9 hours of nothing. (that kid still is very lazy!) The second time it was a planned C-section. My hips were apparently too narrow...not the case anymore.
I really did not mind the c-section either...if I had to do it again, I would request that.

have a good day and relax that brain of yours.
