Babies Galore!

Y'all, we have 17  new, fuzzy little babies at our house.
Jealous?
 I thought ya might be.

A few weeks ago Jeremy had the fantabulous idea to incubate eggs.  Ya see, last year we brought 8 lovely little chickies home from Coastal.  And one of those little chickies wound up being a rooster.  We thought it might be kind of fun to hatch our very own eggs.  What a Science project, right?

So.  A few days after we got home from San Diego, we fired up the incubator, and nestled a whole bunch of little eggs inside it.

And waited.
And turned them.
And waited.
And added water to up the humidity.
And turned them.
And waited.

And . . .

Lookie what we found on Saturday morning!

{Warning: Baby chicks aren't exactly the cutest when they're first born.  "Birth pictures" to follow}

{Also, Mimi . . . no more chickie horror stories, k?  That was frightening.}

Also, chicks are GROSS when they first hatch, but they're SO adorable after they dry.

That's awesome!! Two years ago at the San Diego Fair, we got to see chicks hatching. It's just the neatest thing! And they are so adorable after they fluff up :)

How wonderful! I have always wanted chickens. I just cannot talk my hubby into getting me any. I bet your girls had a blast watching and waiting. Tell us more about your chickens. I would love to hear the ups and downs. What would you suggest for anyone who wants to raise chickens. Blessings!

We love baby chicks! And then are much nicer grown ups when they have been hand raised. I know your girls are seriously enjoying them!

Awww...how adorable! My kids have raised chicks at school...but I'm afraid my dog would eat them if we tried here! She's been known to jump in the air and snatch a bird out of mid-flight in our backyard! Um...I hope this doesn't qualify as a "horror story".

The highlight of our weekend had to be the RSL season-opener. We killed L.A. Yep. Good times.

How fun is that for the girls? A memory maker for sure.
We've talked about having chickens....but I just know they will end up in bed with us (as pets) so I am avoiding it for now!
