Mama of Four

Last night us girly girls were invited to a very special birthday celebration, for a very special friend.
{It was a Hollywood theme, so the girls were even allowed a bit of makeup, and oh my, they were so excited.}

My dad stopped by to get a look at his granddaughters before we headed out, and was happy to snap a few pics for us.

When I uploaded them today, I burst out laughing . . .

This was the order in which they were taken:

Photo #1:
Sierra: Uh, Mom? Do you not notice Taylor screaming because you won't let her bail off the steps into the gravel?

Me {through clenched, smiling teeth}: Yes, Dear, I do notice, but I'd really like to get one quick shot.

Kam: La, la, la, la, la, I'm a princess and I'm wearing makeup.

Kenners: I'm just going to do as I'm told and hold this here pose until Gramps clicks the shutter.

Taylor: WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

Photo #2:

Sierra: Seriously?

Kam: Mama? Tay is ruining my princess moment.

Kenners: Still smiling.

Me {through clenched, smiling teeth}: IG.NORE.IT, girls.

Tay: WAAAHHHHH!

Photo #3:

Sierra: Okay. Ifitgetsmetomypartyfaster. Cheese. Okay?

Kam: Lalalalalala, I love living in my own princess world.

Kenners: I'm kinda done ignoring it.

Me {through clenched, smiling teeth}: Last one, I promise!

Tay: This princess thing is so overrated.

These photos are so indicative of life right now.
New Mama would've waited until everything was just so.
Mama of four? Knows better.

Just keepin' it realer than real.

Wordful Wednesday ~ Birdie Rescue

 The girls and I were in the shop the other day, checking on our chicks
{or rather nearly full grown chickens!}, when Sierra spotted a bird that wasn't supposed to be there.  It was a little like the game, 'one of these things is not like the other'.

I suggested that Sierra leave it be, rather than catch it,
and I'd open up all of our bay doors in  hopes it'd fly out.

It didn't.

The next thing I knew, Sierra was shrieking, crying, and trying to explain
that the little bird had managed to get caught in one of the many mouse traps lying about.

Poor little darlin'.

No worries.  Grandpa to the rescue!
He helped me get the bird out of the trap . . .

 We cleaned up his feet a little, and that little fighter flew right off!!

New Beginnings

2013.

A new start!

 I can't recall a time I've been more relieved and excited to exit one year, and start another.

I kept thinking that we'd have a breather after Christmas, but no.  We've been going full speed ahead, trying to fit in all sorts of fun before we're back to school.

It's been chilly!
Winter01W

But dry.
So we've tried to get out and get some fresh air.

We've had several wonderful visits with dear friends.

We've been in the kitchen a LOT.  Making all sorts of treats.
That's right.
White Chocolate covered donut holes.
You're welcome.

We partied it up Bingo-style on New Year's Eve ;)

Mostly we've just been enjoying each day that God has blessed us with

Things I'm Learning . . .

Every day is a new learning experience. Isn't that the way of Mamas?
Some things I've been learning lately:

*I have false labor at night*
Yep, it's fun.
The last two nights I seriously have thought we might be heading to the hospital. Last night ~ contractions every 6 minutes or so for two hours. The ones that really kinda hurt. Then . . . a big fat nothin'.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*These two . . . love each other quite a bit*
The older one? She is going to be a tremendous help when I'm at the hospital.
*This one is a bit of a handful these days*
I'm thinking *someone* knows life is about to change.
And also? She likes blue popsicles.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*These two also love each other*

But in a different way.

Sierra takes on a motherly approach, and Kenners is the "fun" one ;)

I just like this photo. I'm learning that the sunshine improves my mood TREMENDOUSLY!

And also . . . my Tamron 28-75 lens has been feeling soft lately :( so back on the 50mm goes!

And lastly . . .

This little one ♥ LOVES ♥ "chockit doonuts"

I swear she can spot 'em from a mile away when we're grocery shopping. Then . . . the happy shriek: "CHOCKIT DOOOOONUTS!!!!!"

After eating TWO of the mini donuts last night after dinner, she helped herself to two more when I wasn't looking!

Little stinker!

What things have you learned lately?
