Baby Weight

I've been kind of dragging my feet on this . . . but it's time.

Time to discuss the dreaded baby weight

It's so much more fun to discuss summer outings, crafts with kids, photography, and, oh yes, the sweetness and joy of having a precious new little baby at home.  But it's time to get real, y'all.  And the fact of the matter is I've got weight to lose.

I have gone back and forth about whether or not to post my weight.  I think I'm not ready for that, so instead, I'll tell you how much I have to lose.  About 20 pounds.  {Gasp!} That's right, my sweet little Taylor Grace is 6 weeks old today, and I still have 20{ish} pounds to lose.  Let me just tell you, that's what happens when you gain upwards of 44 pounds during a pregnancy.  Surprise, surprise, I did not give birth to a 35 pound baby!

So . . . here's what I'm doing so far:

Trying very hard to cut out the junk.  I crave a lot of sweets, and I'm not really into denying myself that, so it's a challenge.  But I'm trying to make better choices.

I'm drinking a lot of water.  This is not a problem for me.  I typically drink a lot of water, so not much change there.

I am getting up and moving more.  I seriously thought I was moving a lot as it was.  I mean, really, I'm chasing after kiddos all day long.  But when the scale isn't budging, it means I need to move more.  I'm trying to exercise daily because if I don't, then it doesn't get done at all.  3-4 times a week I do aerobics with Denise Austin, and the remaining days I'm walking.  I used to exercise all the time, but really haven't regularly since Kameryn was born 2 1/2 years ago {yikes!}.   So, {do not laugh!} I am starting slow.  Walking a mile and a half on the nights that I do the walking, and hoping to work my way up.  Pathetic, I know, but I'm just trying to be honest here.

Alright, so any tips?  Motivational thoughts?  Inspirational words?  ;)

Oh, and here's a photo of my precious Taylor with Nana.  She is growing like a weed!  Crazy, I tell ya.  I look at her, and I don't even care about the weight.  {But, I still kinda do a little bit}.

Oh... it will come, seriously, she's only 6 weeks old! It took 9 months to gain the weight so it will take awhile to lose it. It sounds to me like you are doing great! And a mile and a half..... I think that's fabulous! Everyone told me the weight would just fall off if I did. And it didn't. With my son, I breastfed for 9 months and didn't lose any extra weight until I stopped, regardless of my working out and eating. But as soon as I stopped, the extra weight fell off. And my other tip. Tip... when your walking.. add in a few minutes of jogging ~ like 5 minutes walking, 1 minute jogging, or whatever ratio works for you.

Don't be so hard on yourself. 6 weeks is still pretty soon. It took me 3 years to lose the weight from Abby, but I didn't really work at it. Just the fact that you are trying to exercise daily will help the weight come off faster!

Nursing was my savior... I was one where it just took the weight off.. but it did take around the 12week mark before it started to kick in.I also did leg squats anywhere and everywhere I could... in the bathroom blow drying my hair, folding clothes, stiring dinner! Ha,ha!

Do they still tell people not to exercise until after 6 weeks post-delivery? (Sorry, it's been awhile since I've been through the labor and delivery thing!!) If so, then you're right on schedule. :o) I think the exercise you're doing sounds great! You'll lose it! I know how you feel on the sweets thing though... that is the hardest thing I deal with trying to maintain my weight, too!

You just take the best pictures. sigh

When Ian was 6 months old, I decided for once and for all to lose all my baby weight. I used an app on my iPhone to track all I ate, so I counted calories, and I exercised. I did the Couch to 5K and the Jillian Michaels Shred. It took 6 months, but I lost 48 lbs. And I have now kept it off for over a year byt eating sensibly and exercising.

I think the key for me was keeping my calories under a certain amount - but it was something I couldn't do until after I finished breastfeeding Ian, so take it slow - you have time to lose it!

You are being too hard on yourself! (Remind me of that in a few weeks). But seriously, it will come off. Even if it's slowly, at least it will be surely. Don't beat yourself up. And 1 to 1.5 miles is nothing to feel bad about. That is good, and it's better than doing nothing at all.

And that baby is just so stinkin adorable.

You can do it!!

Love that pic of Taylor and Nana!

Speaking from experience, that weight is STUBBORN the more babies you have :) It seemed to melt off with Reagan. By Bailey, I had to WORK to get it off.
That being said....girl, give yourself some time!! It'll come off. Do fun stuff. Chase the girls around the yard; play tag; soccer; have relay races, etc. :) That way it doesn't feel so much like working out.
Seriously, love miss Taylor's cheeks. She's filling out and so precious!!

Oh how I know the frustration all too well! It took me so long with Noelle to lose it all but I'm happy to say that it's gone with (a lot of) running. It will come in time...remind yourself that it took 9 months to gain and allow yourself at least that to get it off :)

Taylor is beautiful!!!

20 lbs! You can do it, that's not very much! And that's coming from someone who has a LOT to lose. :/
Eat more fresh foods, like fruits and veggies for breakfast and lunch. That's what I'm doing, seems to work along with the water. :)

Sweet picture!
I'm working at it too...ugh.
Luckily, I had lost a lot of my weight before Hailey way born. I had to go on the gest. diabetic diet, and it was awesome!
Now I'm sticking to that...it works SO good. I cut out all drinks other than water and a little milk.
I don't eat too many fruit during the day, but plenty of veggies. I look at sugar content in EVERYTHING. If you're willing, try it! I dont make myself miserable by cutting out EVERYTHING, because I had to do that while I was still expecting. That was too hard.
You should be taking it a little eay though...common woman, its only been 6 weeks! :)

OMGosh, seriously you look great. I could never tell that you have any weight to lose. But I know that you have a certain number you want to be at. I can't blame you. I am getting there slowly after 6 years. LOL I know it won't take you but a few more weeks to lose it all...but I have just put some cardio and some weights into my day. It is working. I feel great too. I will feel better in a few more pounds but it feels good.

Congratulations on your sweet precious bundle! She is absolutely adorable.

I have been a horrible blogger this past year...some phases in our lives are like that, no?, but hope to be back into the swing of things.

For now, I'm off. Got to take my three littles to the mall (gag!) to burn off some energy. Didn't you hear? Kansas City is the new Death Valley! 108 degrees today...I didn't even listen to what the heat index temp will be!!!

Blessings to you and your beautiful family,
Val

Baby steps...ha, ha. I just started walking and I walk much less than a mile, let's just say that. You have to push through the "don't want to's" and just do it. I've also started listening to music while I walk and that helps me a lot. And I'm with Wendy...it took 9 months to gain it, so just take your time.

Couch to 5K is a good and simple program too that you can try.

Only 6 weeks...I am working on baby weight from almost 3 years ago:) I have a hard time with sweets too. And it has been so hot here lately it is impossible to exercise. I'm hoping after our little vacay in a few weeks that I can get really serious about losing some more weight!

I'm good at maintaining weight so I don't have any advice. What I am going to do though once I'm finished having baby's is get a tummy tuck. Then I will maintain. ;-)
