Virus by Numbers

HandSanW

 7 ~ The number of days straight, at least one person in our house has been vomiting
{also the number of days since I've been able to escape the house}

4 ~ the number of people in our house who have come down with the stomach bug . . . so far

2 ~ The number of people who have yet to come down with it :(

4,392 ~ The number of pumps of Hand Sanitizer we've used in the last 7 days

2 ~ The number of 2-liter bottles of 7 Up we've consumed

1,076 ~ The number of items on my grocery list {if I can ever manage to make it to the store}

5 ~ The number of plans/appointments/activities that have had to be cancelled or rescheduled

It's not lookin' too pretty around here.

But thankfully, some of us are on the mend!

Hope y'all are staying away from the germs!!

Missing A Couple

We were supposed to spend last weekend at the beach with Jeremy's extended family.

I bought new My Little Pony activity books for the little girls.

We cleaned out the car.

I cooked {we were in charge of dinner one night}

And we packed our bags . . .

So it came as no surprise that the little girls started running fevers two days before the trip.

I prayed they'd get better fast, but no such luck.

So Jeremy took the big girls with him to Depoe Bay for the day.

And I got time with my littles.

By Saturday they were feeling a bit better, and I was determined to make their "at home" day

something special.

We started with coloring pages . . .

CraftDay02W

We love to color ♥

Then we decided that our "pets" needed appropriate pet beds.

CraftDay03W

A little duct tape, and an old storage container . . .

CraftDay04W

And voila!  Pet Bed for Grumpy Cat:

CraftDay05W

We made one for Tay's pet too :)

The girls were on a roll by then, so we proceeded with these adorable
Q-tip Lambs ♥

CraftDay01W

It was "the best craft day EVER!" according to Kam and Tay.

What a blessing to have some time alone with them.

CraftDay07W

We've had such beautiful days, we just had to get out in it, at least for a few minutes.

Before heading outside I debated having Tay change out of her jammies, but . . .

you know, that's real life for us.  Jammy-clad three year olds has been the norm here for years!

We had so much fun together, but now I'm ready for everyone to feel better so we can proceed with our plans!

Hope you all have managed to stay well!

Back to the Living

Oh.my.goodness.
We have been sicker than sick around here.
A week or so before Christmas all of us started feeling a little under the weather.

But we made it through a crazy, busy Christmas Day.
I love Christmas, and I love Family.
But our Christmas Day is crazy.
It starts bright and early at home where we open our presents to each other.
Then we quickly pack up gifts to head to Jeremy's parent's house.
We spend the rest of the morning and early afternoon there, enjoying our time with them,
and eating a delicious brunch! :)
After that we head home to drop off gifts received, and pick up more gifts that are destined for my parent's house.
We then get to spend time with my parents and siblings and their families.
By evening it's time to stop by the house again to drop off and pick up more gifts.
Then on to Jeremy's grandparents house for our final stop.
And finally we return home, often not before 9 or 10pm.

It makes for an awfully long day.
Especially for little ones.
Especially when  no one is feeling their best.

So it was no wonder that after trying to fight off a virus,
it finally took hold right after Christmas Day.
And goodness, did it take hold!
Tay and I were the firsts, followed by Kam, then Sierra, and Kenners.
And it has been MISERABLE.
But we have been a fever-free house for two days!
Woohooo!

So, finally . . .
Christmas re-cap:

Christmas morning at our house.
Sierra got a new Remington hat she's been wanting for awhile :)

Kenners got a new hat too!

Then up to Grandma and Grandpa's!

Tay was getting the hang of it by this time ;)

Kam loves her nightgowns :)

And then . . . we had a surprise visitor!!
Santa stopped by because he forgot to deliver a gift.
Ten gifts, actually.
Each box with a letter that the girls were to unscramble.

Hmmm . . . what are we trying to spell?

Looks like Disneyland!

Grandma and Grandpa are taking the six of us
{and Uncle Josh too!}
to Disneyland in May!

Do the girls look excited?
Just a little ;)

Special presents for our trip:
Minnie tees, autograph books, luggage tags, and coin purses.

And then it was on to my mom and dad's where Taylor and Monique
had a very intense conversation ;)

We play BINGO with my parents every New Year's Eve,
but we were so sick this year, we had to postpone.
Finally, a couple nights ago we were well enough to venture out of the house for a mini version.

We even made some super yummy drinks to take with us:

 And here we are.
On the mend.
Getting back in the swing of things.
We started back to school today, with a new and improved attitude!

What have y'all been up to??

Stay healthy ♥

Celebrations, Sleepovers, & Sickies

 I'm going through pictures, and I realize ~ I'm so far behind!

What's new, though, right?

So.

Miss Tay celebrated a birthday last week.
{And so did I, but let's not linger on that fact}.

Birthday01W

She was so excited to open presents all by herself like a big girl.

We started the morning with a few presents from the sissies and Mama and Daddy.

And moved on to Strawberry Shortcake-making later in the afternoon.

Birthday03W

Then came a small celebration that evening . . .

Taylor was perfectly pleased to be modeling her new princess attire.

Birthday02W

The following day we had friends over for a sleepover, since Jeremy was at work.

They were so sweet to bring the makings for homemade pizza, and even a birthday cake for me!

Birthday04W

And do you know how we repaid them?
By passing along a stomach bug :(
Ugh.  I feel terrible about that.
Kenners hadn't felt well earlier in the week, but it had been a couple of days since she'd been sick, and none of my other girlies seemed to get it, so we thought we were safe.

Not so.
The day after the sleepover Sierra came down with it . . .
Then Kam, then Taylor, and finally . . . me.
I probably don't have to remind anyone that I'm scared to death of vomit.
After this incident a couple years ago . . . yeah.

But.  I *think* we are finally all on the mend.
Not 100%, but definitely feeling better.

Birthday parties, sleepovers, sickies . . .

And, oh yeah . . .

This guy:

Coyote01W

Mr. Coyote, hangin' out RIGHT by the chicken coop!
They're getting awfully friendly these days :/

And I can't resist one of Miss Soph:
She finds the most interesting places to nap.
She's SUCH a stinker.
But she's a cute stinker.

Out of Bed

Miss Kam may have had breakfast in bed the other day,
but yesterday,
we all made it to the table.

Sicky02

Thought we might be on the mend too . . .
Until last night.
Poor Miss Tay :(
Let's just say there was not a wink of sleep to be had.
So.  In to the doctor we went this morning.
Just me and the little girls. {And Gramps ~ a.k.a. Super Helper}

Sicky

 And my suspicions were confirmed.
Miss Kam has an ear infection in her left ear, and Miss Tay . . .
A double ear infection that is especially nasty.
My poor little pumpkins!

10 days of antibiotics + lotsa liquids + constant snuggles +
a whole bunch of movie rentals {hopefully} = Girlies on the mend.

Alright.  Let's hear it.
What do you to make your little lovies more comfy when they're under the weather?

And that means . . .

Breakfast in bed :)

Starbucks Makes Everyone Feel Better

So . . . we've been doing a lot of this lately.
Sicky

{Please excuse the frizzy, unkept hair.  Sick little girls don't appreciate their mamas doing anything but taking care of them 24/7.  Maybe excuse the zombie look too.  Mama hasn't been getting much sleep these days.  Actually, why don'tcha just ignore crazy lady on the left, and just focus on the little one on the right.  She's pretty adorable even when she's not feelin' so good. }

Don't get me wrong, I love the snuggles.  But I REALLY love healthy too.  And we're not feeling all that healthy these days.  And it's kind of a bummer, because I feel like we're missing out on all of the holiday festivities.  But then, I think maybe it does us some good to slow down.  So, we're making peace with that.

Taylor had her 6 month check up yesterday {Um, 19 pounds, 3 ozs.  Hello, big girl!}, and I asked if we could squeeze Kam in for a quick peek too.  No ear infection, lungs sound good.  "Just" a virus.  But poor little thing is just miserable.  After the appointment we swung by the store for more Tylenol, a couple of last minute gifts, and more wrap {and juice too}.  And the girls were SO good, that I ran into Starbucks to pick up a little treat for them.  They ♥ the Vanilla Bean, so I ordered three, with a few of these:

ChristmasBokeh

Yummy, chocolatey, pepperminty goodness.  I had a tiny bite, and they are heavenly.  And they're photogenic too.  Don't you think?

Hope y'all are staying healthy!!

Christmas Lights

Last night we went to Portland International Raceway to see the lights.  It took us nearly two hours to get there {lotsa traffic}, but I'm so glad we went.
Lights2

Lights

Of course, on the way home we had two sickies {Kam is finally getting the virus that everyone else had a week or two ago, and Kenners has some sort of stomach bug}.  I can deal with colds.  But PLEASE no stomach flu.  Please.  After last year's bout {when I thought I might die}, vomiting is seriously on my list of greatest fears.

So today we are resting up.  Hanging out in our comfies, and watching movies.  Tomorrow is the girls' dance recital, and we want to be in tip top condition!

This Is What Sickness Looks Like At Our House

Sickies2

These two lovies are feeling a little under the weather.
{Truth be told, we're all feeling this way, it's just hitting these two a little harder at the moment}.

Sickies1

So we started our day with Blueberry Smoothies.  Frozen blueberries we picked back in August, vanilla yogurt, apple juice, and raspberry sherbet.  It soothed the sore throats.

Sickies4

Later in the day Kam decided she needed some Hot Chockit.  And Kenners joined her.  And then proclaimed, "this is the best hot chocolate ever, Mama".

Sickies3

Once I got Taylor down for her afternoon nap I assembled a Lasagna.  Because Lasagna makes everything better.  And also because we've had days straight of rain, and I like me some comfort food this time of year.

Sickies5

These apples here?  They were used to make apple crisp.  I just took it out of the oven, and drizzled caramel over the top.  And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go eat some.

What do your sick days look like?

Poor Baby

This little sugarplum . . .

She isn't feeling so well today :(

There wasn't a lot of sleep happening last night, so we went in to the doctor today. I suspected an ear infection as she was running a 104 degree temp at 2am. But nope. It seems that the germs from the virus we've all been fighting for, oh, a month have made their way back to Kameryn. Poor baby. So we're just snuggling today. And that suits us just fine.

What are y'all doing? Any fun plans for this weekend?

Letters of Intent

This is my first time linking up to Letters of Intent. Why?? Goodness knows I have plenty to say ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Virus/Sinus Infection/Whateveryouare,
Go away.
And don't ever come back.
I'm sick of the coughing, the not-being-able-to-breathe-out-my-nose. You've taken away my senses of smell and taste for, oh, about two weeks now. You've almost taken away all of the fun of eating. I even turned down my favorite, Coffee Ice Cream, last night, because, what's the point in piling on the calories when you can't even enjoy the taste??
Goodbye forever!
Signed,
Ms. Stuffyhackn'coughington
Personal Shopper
I'm sorry, but is she the cutest little shopper you've ever seen?
I finally took Sierra in to the doctor today. She's had a cold {we all have, actually} for the last week or so, and it was getting worse. When she started complaining of headaches and it hurting under her eyes and around her nose, I knew it was time to go in.
Turns out she has a sinus infection, poor thing. So we headed to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription plus other odds and ends we needed. Cough drops, lip balm, zinc pops. You know, necessities for the sickies.
Kam did our shopping for us.
She's a customer-in-training, don'tchaknow.
You Know You're *Really* Sick When . . .
* You can't muster the energy to get out of bed. For days.
* Sitting upright to get on the laptop for a few minutes is a chore you just can't tackle.
* Your inbox overflows, and you don't even have the energy to care.
* You actually wish you could stand to do laundry and dishes because you {gasp!} miss them.
* The dance team that your sister coaches is AWESOME this year, and you can't even make it to the state competition to attend :(
* You otherwise cannot stand the thought of an afternoon nap, but now can't keep your eyes open to avoid one.
* You completely neglect your bloggy friends even during super fun parties you swore you'd "attend". Sigh.
* You can't even properly take care of your own children. Talk about feeling like a horrible mom. I used to kind of chuckle when moms would talk about getting a cold and having to send their kids to the grandparents so they could rest. Secretly I'd kind of roll my eyes and think "good grief, it's a cold. And you can't even take care of your children?" Never folks. Never again will I judge. Ever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, I'm feeling a bit better today. I can get up off the couch now, hooray! I will try to post soon about the craftiness that went on here last week.

Have a great weekend!
