Friend Makin' Mondays ~ Hobbies

Amber is hosting another week of FMM, and Kenz has jumped in to help :) These lovely ladies have come up with a fabulous topic:

What are your hobbies?

What do you wish that you knew how to do?

My hobbies {and I use that term loosely, as most hobbies have been put on the back burner for longer than I care to admit} are:

Sewing

Though I'm not great at it. I don't even know how to read patterns, people. But I do love a little time at the sewing machine.

Scrapbooking

I used to LOVE to scrapbook. Now the thought is overwhelming to me because I'm so far behind. I'm seriously considering having some digital albums made just to catch up so that I can enjoy scrapbooking again.

Reading

Another thing that I love that I don't make time for.

Crochet

Oh how I love to crochet. It is one of those projects that is super easy to set down if you get interrupted, and you can take it with you anywhere. Not great at reading crochet patterns either, but I can make a mean scarf, hat, afghan, and my newest: a baby cocoon ~photo prop.

***********************

I would love to learn how to:

Knit

I have really been wanting to learn to knit lately. Anyone do both? Which is easier?

*****************

It's going to be a busy day today. The boys {Jeremy, his dad, my dad, and a family friend} left yesterday for a hunt in Wyoming, and are planning to be gone most of the week. That means GIRL time! The girls and I are skipping out on homeschool today {shhhh, don't tell} to go shopping with my mom. Once we get home and get all our goodies put away, I'll be around to check on everyone's FMM posts! Can't wait to find out more about everyone's hobbies!

Happy Monday, y'all!

OOOH I can comment on the crochet/knitting - I've been crocheting since I was 12 and took a knitting class this summer. Knitting is more difficult, but you will have an advantage in 'managing' the yarn over someone who's never done anything before. My instructor told me my knitting looked like hers did after about a year, because of all the crocheting I've done. The difficult parts are 1) keeping all the yarn on the needle! and 2) with crochet if you make a mistake you just rip it back & re-do. Knitting's trickier. I really need to pick up my class project & finish it before I completely forget how! Sorry for the novel :)

I've seen your sewing and it's gorgeous!
I love to sew and scrapbook, but haven't been in the mood to scrapbook since my huge push just before graduation this past Spring. The mood usually hits me after the Christmas tree comes down. I'm horribly behind currently too...

I so wish I could sew an actual pattern. I also like to scrapbook, but I'm about 7 months behind right now on Abby's book.

I love to read as well, and never get time for it. I am usually falling asleep 2 pages into my book every night!

That's a great list - I never really thought about crocheting, but it sure does sound interesting....

I want to learn to sew, knit and crochet. Hmmm...which is easiest?
Maybe I will just try and get caught up with my scrapbooking:)

I love to read too but when I do I have to block off one day and just do it all in that day...I basically neglect everything else including my beautiful children and read. I have to limit myself to about 1 every 2 or 3 months. and I'm with ya on the scrapbooking- I think I gave up a while ago on that!

That was a great list....sewing completely intimidates me so I admire people who can do it! I love reading too but very rarely get a chance to do it. In fact, I keep having to renew the new Harlan Coben book I checked out from the library because I'm only 1/4 way through it!!

Baking cakes was actually much easier than I thought it would be. I learned some great tips along the way to keep the cakes nice and moist on the inside too. You'd be amazed what you can do!!

I really want to learn how to crochet or knit. I tried to teach myself how to crochet and it didn't work out at all.

So...really, we should live closer to each other. I love the crafty stuff, but am not that great at it. I first learned to knit then crochet. I can knit a scarf...that's it. I'm currently crocheting a blanket. I think I might finish in 10 years, maybe. I used to scrapbook, but with all that goes on, I just blog. Perhaps I'll get it printed and can consider it my scrapbook for these busy years. :)
