Extreme Makeover: Me Edition, Week 5

Whoa, whoa, whoa, where did the time go?! This last week just zoomed right on by me. First things first, if you are new to Extreme Makeover: Me Edition, please go visit Amber. She's the one who started this grand journey. You'll definitely want to join this fabulous group of ladies trying to get and stay fit and healthy. Go on, check it out why don'tcha!

So . . . this week wasn't too bad! Last week's question regarding tunes that you listen to while working out really got me motivated to fill up my iPod with some better music to get me goin'. And it worked! I actually fit 35-45 minutes of aerobic activity into several days last week. AND, thanks to Amber, I remembered that I really love doing isolated exercises, so I've picked that up again as well. (Think crunches and leg lifts). I've also been snacking less, and being more conscious of what I'm eating. And, while I've always been a water-drinker, I've upped my intake lately.

Amber's Question of the Week: Share with us a healthy recipe

Would you believe that this question is totally stumping me? I know, that's sad, but true. We don't eat a lot of junk, but I'm definitely NOT what you would consider a health nut. So, the following is pretty basic, and I wouldn't even call it a recipe, but here ya go:

We love fruit around here. And especially in the summer time when there are so many yummy fruits in season, I enjoy putting together a fruit salad. You can choose to add any fruit you like, but we enjoy:

*Sliced Strawberries* *Blueberries* *Raspberries* *Grapes*

*Sliced Bananas* *Sliced Kiwi*

I then make a fruit dip which consists of Fat Free Vanilla Yogurt

(Yoplait is the only kind I buy. I'm a yogurt snob like that)

and mix with Light Cool Whip

The girls love dippin' their fruit. I realize that this "recipe" would be healthier if we eliminated the cool whip, but c'mon Cool Whip makes everything a little more fun, right?

Time for the results: Why, oh why do I ALWAYS weigh less on Monday than I do on Wednesday? (Uh, Amber? Can we move EM:ME to Mondays?) I usually weigh myself daily, and Mondays I'm always like "Woohoo, look at that loss" Then we get to Wednesday and it's like "What the heck?!" Yep, that happened again this week, but I'm trying not to take my anger out on my scale. Soooooo (stupid stinkin' scale says) I have lost 1 pound this week.

So, what are you waiting for? Go take a look at what other moms are doing to get healthier over at Amber's and sign yourself up!

Until next week!

Liz, the same thing happens to me on Mondays!!! Almost every single time. Great job on the weight loss!!!

The fruit dip sounds great. I use the sugar-free cool whip. 2 tablespoons is zero points (Weight Watchers). It doesn't taste like sugar free and it's still really yummy. I'll have to try the dip. Do you use equal parts yogurt and cool whip? My family loves fruit too.

Glad you had a good week. Music is key for aerobic activity. At least for me. Keep up the good work! Good luck this week!

Much love from NJ,
Sue

I am my HEAVIEST on Monday mornings after weekends of bad eating. My lightest would probably be on Friday mornings.

GREAT JOB on 1 pound!

I think all my weekend eating finally catches up to my butt on Wednesday....

I love fruit salad and since one of my kids will only eat fruit (and she is skinny...hmmmm) we have lots of it around but I feed it to the kids and I don't eat it.

That's it. I'm going on the Toddler DIet.

Wow, you lost a whole lb!! Now, I'm really wondering what your loss was on Monday?!!!!

I love the fruit dip idea. My kids love fruit anyway, but they love to dip also...so will definately be doing this.

You are so awesome!! Always a great motivator for me :)

Last week helped me so much too! I also have some great new tunes to work out to!

I seem to fair better on the scale on Mondays usually too. What's up with that?

Fruit is definitely something I need to eat more of...I'm not very good at it. I'm definitely going to try out the dip!

Also, don't get discouraged, 1 lb is better than no pounds, or a gain!

Just think, it will soon be fruit salad time. I am with you, I love summer it renews my soul. I like your idea of isolated exercises, I am gonna try that. Thanks for the tip.

At least you lost a pound :-)! Yeah for you! I should try that fruit dip, maybe Sarah would actually eat some then (her anti-fruit kick has me stumped!) I think I'm my lightest on Friday, from being good all week then I BINGE on the weekend lol!

One pound is better than no pounds at all. Keep up the great work on working out. The recipe sounds wonderful especially for this summer. Hugs, Bobbi Jo

Congrats on the 1 pound!! One pound is better than nada!! So, how much were you down on Monday? I just did Wednesday b/c MOST people like to have a couple days to recoop after the weekend. :) We can definitely change it if a lot of people feel the same way! I feel a survey coming on.

Oh ya, and I TOTALLY would love to go to Target with you. Except, maybe we could get our hubbies to watch the kids, and maybe go hunting together. ;) Then you and I could have some REAL fun at Target, sans kids. Except for little Kam, of course, so she won't be far from the teat. Oh, I meant to say, b/c she's so darn cute. Both of those work. :)

The dip sounds yummy! I have a friend that freezes Cool Whip Free and eats it like ice cream, so it can't be that bad for you, lol!

Hi Liz! Good job on the weight loss.

I am also a yogurt snob. I love Yoplait. I eat one every day. It's like my highlight. Kind of sad, I know...

I love making fruit parfaits with the yogurt and fruit and a little granola on top. So yummy! Your dip sounds good too!

Have a wonderful week!
